Sustainable Procurement Policy — Trust Centre — Compass IoT
Resilience

Our commitment

Sustainable procurement is the acquisition of necessary goods and services that have the least impact on the environment and human health, within our capacity to do so.

As a SaaS provider of transport data and insights, we recognise our role in promoting responsible sourcing, reducing our environmental footprint, and contributing to sustainable transport outcomes. This policy governs all procurement by, for, or on behalf of Compass IoT Pty Ltd — including purchases made by our people, our partners, and our suppliers.

Policy goals

What this policy sets out to achieve

Policy in place
  • Ensure our suppliers and partners apply sustainable business practices.
  • Ensure investment decisions are sustainable.
  • Embrace sustainable work practices and behaviours.
  • Align our business activities with the UN Sustainable Development Goals where appropriate.
  • Minimise negative environmental and social impacts in our supply chain.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable environmental, labour, and human rights legislation.

Guiding principles

How we apply sustainability to procurement

Environmental responsibility
  • Prioritise suppliers who demonstrate efforts to reduce carbon emissions, energy consumption, water use, and waste generation.
  • Prefer goods and services with lower environmental impact over their lifecycle — recycled, energy-efficient, minimal packaging.
  • Evaluate our own digital infrastructure for energy efficiency, including cloud hosting providers with net-zero commitments.
Social and ethical sourcing
  • Work with suppliers who uphold fair labour practices, diversity, inclusion, and non-discrimination.
  • Avoid partnerships with organisations involved in exploitative labour, modern slavery, or environmental harm.
  • Require transparency in supply chains, particularly in high-risk sectors.
Economic responsibility
  • Engage with vendors who support fair pricing, local economies, and equitable opportunity.
  • Integrate total lifecycle cost into procurement decisions, rather than focusing solely on upfront price.
  • Encourage innovation and sustainable solutions within supplier proposals.
Sustainable IT and data
  • Partner with cloud providers committed to renewable energy and sustainable operations.
  • Minimise data centre footprint and ensure efficient data storage and processing practices.
  • Support open-data principles and contribute to sustainable mobility initiatives.

Supplier evaluation

Supplier engagement and evaluation

We give preference to vendors who demonstrate evidence of their own sustainable procurement practices and a commitment to reducing their environmental and social impact.

What we look for in suppliers

Sustainability credentials are increasingly a factor in our vendor selection process. We give preference to suppliers who can demonstrate environmental certifications, published sustainability policies, or measurable progress against climate targets — and we encourage all suppliers to improve their sustainability position over time.

Policy review

Policy review

This policy will be reviewed every 12 months or as necessary to reflect changes in regulations, technology, or organisational priorities.
