Hi, my name is Emily Bobis. I'm one of the Founding Directors of Compass IoT. Today I'm going to run you through an example of how you can use the Nearmap imagery feature to help you with your projects.

So for this particular use case the client wanted to look at the effect of a temporary contraflow on the Hume Highway in New South Wales. And what happened is all the traffic that was going in this direction was diverted onto the opposite side of the highway. So instead of having two lanes going in each direction they had one lane in each direction and shut down one half of the highway.

The client wanted to see hey what was the effect of this traffic, and so an easy way to do that is: I'm going to go into the date range first, and I know that the contraflow was still active around the end of October, so I’ll put that in. The second thing I'm going to do is go down to the bottom right-hand side of the corner and turn on the G-forces and Speeds. And you'll see here right away that there's this weird green line crossing over from one side of the road to the other. Kind of strange, right?

So, what you can do with the Nearmap integration is you can get a better picture of what's actually happening and get more clear imagery about what the different setups look like on the road network. So to do the Nearmap integration, there's two things you need to do. The first one is you need to turn your map view onto Satellite. After you've turned on your Satellite view, the next step is to go back down to this bottom right-hand corner and click the Nearmap imagery button.

And you will see that now you have way better high-definition imagery, and if you zoom in, you can actually see not only the cars going in different directions and their traffic flow but the cones, you can see the temporary VMS signage, you can even scroll all the way down the highway and see the trucks that are actually working on the road surface. Now, if I scroll even further out, and I go back down the highway, I can actually pinpoint where the contraflow starts.

The Nearmap integration provides another way to look at a site and the ability to monitor the before and after, and check for anything at that site that might have been affecting the results or the traffic and the data at that particular location.
